Bathroom Organization When There Is No Cabinet

Bathrooms are the easiest room to declutter, because most of what is in them has an expiry date and no sentimental value whatsoever. They are also frequently the room with the least built-in storage.

Start with the cull. It is fast, and it usually solves most of the storage problem on its own.

The cull

Toiletries do expire, and most people are storing a significant amount of product that is past it. Rough guides, and the little open-jar symbol on the packaging is the authority:

binning them.

Then remove, without agonising: hotel miniatures, the products that irritated your skin, anything nearly empty that you have replaced, and gift sets you were never going to use.

Anything cardboard or fabric will go mouldy in a bathroom. Learn this once rather than twice.

The daily-use rule

Only things used every day get to sit out. Everything else goes away.

A bathroom looks tidy or untidy almost entirely based on the number of bottles visible on the surfaces, regardless of how well organised the cupboards are. Four items on the side reads as clean. Fourteen does not, however neatly they are arranged.
